The Case For Low-rise Denim
If you need a quick music refresh, good news—the LA-based DJ, model, and music manager Sophia Ziskin, aka Fifi, has got you. Not only has she shared some excellent wardrobe picks and homemade snack recommendations, but she has also made Coveteur readers a playlist of her current favorite songs, including selections from Blur, Imogen Heap, and Shygirl. Hit play and read along for her thoughts on scents, her denim preferences, and the TV show soundtrack she can’t get enough of. — Maraya
SIGHT
Le Circle Rouge (1970): I recently rewatched Le Circle Rouge, which is a French crime/mystery movie that I would watch a lot in France over the holidays. It reminds me so much of my childhood. Every Alan Delon movie is pretty perfect, and all the scores are too!
SOUND
The O.C. Soundtrack and All Her Current Faves: I have been rewatching The O.C.(the best show ever), and have been nonstop listening to songs from the soundtrack. Foo Fighters, The La's, Imogen Heap, etc. It's just all too good. My music taste is all over the place right now; there's a lot of great new stuff too! Always listening to club music and updating my USB. I made a playlist of all of my current favorites, listen to it here. <3
TASTE
Rosewater Soaked Dates With Olive Oil And Salt and Home-Seasoned Popcorn: I have two major snack obsessions right now. The first one is rosewater-soaked dates with olive oil and salt. It is truly the most perfect snack. I had these at Dune in Atwater a bit ago and have been making them at home ever since. Another fun snack is popping popcorn at home with some olive oil, salt, and pepper and then adding paprika and nutritional yeast. Just trust me! My restaurant recommendation in LA is All Time in Los Feliz. The striped bass and sweet potatoes are a must!
SMELL
Hwyl by Aēsop: I've always loved to smell more musky, woodsy, and peppery, and I feel like Aēsop really embodies that. I've been an Aēsop girl for a while and have tried out most of their scents, right now I'm very into Hwyl. I always always keep multiple perfume roll-ons or little bottles in my purse, you won't catch me without at least two. Right now, in my purse, I have Maison Louis Marie no.4 and the Kumba Made Arabian Musk.
FEEL
Tankair Studio Tank: Have to shout out a few things here. I always, without fail, feel my best when I'm wearing the Tankair Studio Tank. To all my girls with big boobs, this top is a NEED! Growing up by the beach, a good bikini has always been a necessity. There's nothing like a bikini that makes you feel snatched, Frankies Bikinis and Bamba Swim are my go-to's. Also, a life hack—a lot of bikini companies make the cutest clothes. I'm also a mini shorts enthusiast. Wearing mini shorts over a bikini or a cute little top with flats and cute socks or boots is my uniform. I wore these so much last summer and, of course, miss Charlie Beads Bloomers.
SOPHIA’S ESSENTIALS
Reformation Clara Cashmere Crew Cardigan: Can't go wrong with this classic piece. Makes me feel so put together and chic. Every color is so cute; this specific one is such a perfect crop! When I find something like this I love to get it in multiple colors. If it ain't broke, buy it in multiple colors.
Frankies Bikinis Christabelle Ruffle Maxi Dress: This. Is. The. Perfect. Dress. No dress has fit me more like a glove. If I'm going to wear a long dress it's going to be this one. I've worn it to a beach picnic and to the club. It also comes in a shorter version.
Helmut Lang Cuffed Denim Trucker Jacket: A fitted, cropped dark wash denim jacket is my heaven. The one linked is the closest to the one I have. Definitely my most worn jacket; it goes with everything. So sleek and sexy. Again, a piece that makes me feel put together is super important to me. I love to find classic pieces that will never go out of style. This is one of them.
Calvin Klein ‘90s Loose Fit Jeans: Gotta have the perfect pair of jeans. I always size up to make sure they are low-rise. You'll never catch me in anything high or even mid-waist, strictly low-rise! I love the loose-fitting Calvins and APC jeans. When I don't know what to wear I just wear jeans and a tank top... the most cliche thing ever because it will always work!
Tootsie Jewelry Rosetta Pink Hair Clip: Cute hair clips are everything! Another way to feel more put together—if you aren't feeling your best, at least your hair has a cute accessory. Been wearing these floral hair clips from Tootsie Jewelry every day since I modeled for them. You can find cute ones on Etsy.
“When it comes to skincare I truly believe less is more. The fast skincare trends usually do more harm than good. Find your favorite cleanser and moisturizer and just stick to it! What you're eating and consuming is also a big factor for skin—eat your greens and take care of your body!”

VANITY
Luxury/Splurge: Osea Ocean Cleanser: My splurging is always on skincare, and I re-up on the same products every time. Osea Ocean Cleanser has been my go-to face cleanser for years now. Basically, the only thing I use to cleanse my skin! I love clean beauty and skincare companies, and Osea is an amazing one.
Drugstore Discovery: NYX Slim Lip Pencil Creamy Long-Lasting Lip Liner: NYX lipliner is going in the basket every time I'm at a CVS. You can't have too many brown lipliners (mostly because they get lost in like one hour.)
Cult Classic: West Barn Co. Soap Brows Original: Having bushy brows is my pride and joy, and clear brow gel or soap brow is often the only "makeup" I do on myself if I don't have time for anything else. A lot of brow gels leave residue but these do not! The Anastasia clear brow gel is my go-to! I'm also a big fan of just a bar of soap and a spoolie. Works every time.
Indie Option: Anastasia Clear Brow Gel: For all the same reasons as above!
All Time Ole Reliable: Heritage Store Rosewater Spray: I love rosewater spray for a lot of things. I use it as a toner and keep a mini one in my purse if I need a refresh if my skin is feeling dry. Make sure you're using the one that is only 100% rosewater, like the one from Heritage Store.
