Pamela Love on Wearing Sandals Year-Round
Pamela Love makes jewelry for the woman I wish I was—the ‘Jessa’ of the friend group with sunkissed skin, effortless style, loose tarot cards in her purse, and a wild anecdote from a recent adventure in her back pocket. With elements of mythological symbolism and old-world motifs, Love’s stunning creations are both wearable and unique.
After years of living in New York—she founded her eponymous brand out of her Brooklyn apartment in 2007—Love is now adjusting to life in Los Angeles. One thing she’s had to get used to? Her newfound ability to wear sandals year-long. Here, she shares her go-to pair as well as other wardrobe and beauty staples, and inadvertently makes the case for LA (hint: fresh home-grown produce.) — Maraya

5 Things Pamela Love Is Currently Into Based on the 5 Senses
👁️ Sight 👀
Interior Design Inspiration: We’ve been in the process of decorating our house so I’m always looking at vintage furniture, rugs textiles, et cetera, as well as contemporary furniture designers and interior artists. I’m particularly in love with the works of Sam Klemick, Jeff Martin Joinery, Eric Roinestad, Natan Moss, and Danny Kaplan.
🎧 Sound 👂
LCD Soundsystem: I have a 20-month-old son so we listen to a lot of music for kids, particularly Raffi, who I listened to when I was his age so it’s really special for me. Outside of this, I have been listening to early LCD Soundsystem. It’s always appealing to me at the beginning of the new year to listen to Dance Yrself Clean.
👅 Taste 😋
Freshly Grown Romaine: Cooking has been hard for me lately with work. It’s one of my New Year's priorities to refocus on cooking as much as possible. We started growing our own vegetables which has been an amazing experience for our family and eating anything freshly grown tastes incredible. I’m obsessed with freshly grown Romaine lettuce. I’m still new to LA and trying to find restaurants I love. Market in Venice has been a favorite so far.
👃 Smell 😶🌫️
Rose Water Spray: I don’t like artificial scents or even perfumes. They give me a headache. Instead, I use an organic rose water spray.
🤌 Feel 🤏
Mara Hoffman Pajamas: I wear them all the time even out of the house.
PAMELA’S WARDROBE ESSENTIALS
Closed Wide Jeans: I love these jeans—they are so chic and slouchy. I also have them in black and tan, and I wear them constantly. They have become my uniform.
Jacques Marie Mage Dealan Sunglasses: I appreciate things that are made very very well—especially with eyewear. I am at the point in my vision decline where I have to get my prescription in my sunglasses. I love these so much. They are so flattering and sturdy and made in very limited runs which are numbered.
Pamela Love Molten Pavé Huggie: I’m constantly changing out my earring layout—I have a lot of piercings. But these seem to always stay in, even though their location may change. I like a hoop that’s timeless but also unique and handmade.
K Jacques Sandal: I’m still getting used to being able to wear sandals all year round. These are my go-to’s for almost everything. I love all versions of these K Jacques handmade sandals, but the all-black version is only available at Sunroom and they are the chicest in my opinion.
Prada Crochet Tote Bag With Logo: I carried this bag all summer, then I put it away because I felt like maybe it wasn’t seasonally appropriate for the winter? But it has come back out for this warmish California January and works great with all my winter sandal looks.
VANITY
Pamela Love’s Beauty Go-To’s
Luxury/Splurge: Augustus Bader Rich Cream: Everything people say about this cream is true. I have skin on the dry side and the rich cream works wonders. I feel like I’m 10 years younger after using it for a few weeks. It’s worth the splurge.
Drugstore Discovery: Attitude Living Cream Blush Stick: Does it count as a drugstore discovery if it’s at Whole Foods? I love Attitude Living for their dish soap, laundry detergents, and other eco-friendly non-toxic products for our home. When I discovered their makeup and skincare at Whole Foods I was pretty excited. I love their bronzer sticks and blush sticks.
Cult Classic: Macrene Actives High Performance Eye Cream: Everything from Macrene is heaven but this eye cream is especially amazing and effective. And you need to use SO little to get results. After I had my son, my eyes looked crazy for months. Like a zombie in a movie. A week of this cream and I looked totally refreshed, and my eyes seemed to belong to a younger person.
Indie Option: Odacité Micellar Cleansing Water: I love this toner/cleanser so much. It’s really heavenly. I just feel better after I use it. It sounds silly but it’s true.
All Time Ole Reliable: EltaMD UV Elements Broad-Spectrum SPF 44: This is the best facial sunscreen and the tint is super flattering and gives you a glow. I get more compliments on my skin whenever I’m wearing it.
