We’re Trying This Cookie Recipe Tonight
Like many millennials, I discovered producer and musician Lindsey French, then known as Negative Gemini, in 2016 by stumbling across her song “You Never Knew” on an actual music blog. I was instantly hooked—her songs were synthy, a little dark, featured incredibly catchy dance beats, and her lyrics resonated with my senior-year-of-college angst. French has since renamed her project Neggy Gemmy, signifying a cheeky new era of electronic pop as seen on her latest album CBD Reiki Moonbeam, released via 100% Electronica, the record label she co-founded with George Clanton. Here, Neggy Gemmy shares her wardrobe staples, the album she has on repeat, and a cookie recipe that I personally will be trying out this evening. — Maraya
SIGHT
Poor Things (2023): I just watched Poor Things, because of all the nominations it got. I think probably everyone is watching that right now if they haven’t already, but I was fascinated by the storyline and the set design which was so elaborate and otherworldly. We were watching it on some weird streaming service that kept pausing at one point, and every time it froze I wasn’t really irritated because it gave me a chance to just absorb everything happening in any given frame. I’ve never seen so much attention to detail and the costuming was also really cool.
SOUND
Foxbase Alpha by Saint Etienne: I’ve had Foxbase Alpha, the album from Saint Etienne, on repeat for a while now. It’s the perfect album for this time of year, the spring in Los Angeles. They don’t make it like that no more.
TASTE
Pistachio Chocolate Chip Cookie: I actually just made these pistachio chocolate chip cookies that my husband sent me a link to and they were to die for. I added some extra sea salt on top and I used that Xoxo dark chocolate. It was insanely good.
SMELL
Versace Bright Crystal and Loewe Candles: My go-to perfume lately is Versace Bright Crystal. I just got a bunch of scented candles from Loewe that are all these insane scents like tomato leaves, oregano, and weed. They all smelled so good.
FEEL
Ouai Detox Shampoo: I have really hard water here in SoCal, which fucks with my hair and leaves a bunch of crap in it. I haven’t found a single shower head filter worth a damn no matter how pricey, but I did find this shampoo—Ouai Detox shampoo—and it’s been helping a lot. I follow it up with Davines shampoo and conditioner.
NEGGY’S ESSENTIALS
We’ve got the ASICS in here; I think a reflective silver white sneaker is cute and ASICS are the most comfortable shoe ever. Diesel jackets reign supreme. I have this Praying raglan baby tee, it’s the perfect baby tee in fit and material. Miista makes my favorite shoes. They are truly quality and will not hurt your feet. I have walked miles and miles in these boots. Lastly, I’m always reaching for KNWLS halcyon leggings. Super soft, thin, flowy, and drapey flared leggings.
Shop the Essentials: ASICS Gel-Nyc Panelled Sneakers, Diesel De-Slimmy Metallic Jacket, Praying Baby Tee, Miista Brenda Black Boots, KNWLS Halcyon Leggings Gothic Lace

VANITY
The Dennis Gross Peel Pads really make a difference and give a nice glow, it’s a chemical exfoliant. All the Cerave stuff is honestly so good and you can find it anywhere. I’ve always loved NARS foundation and concealer, I use it even on stage and I think it looks really natural instead of cakey. Pat McGrath and Anastasia are two of my favorite newish beauty brands—particularly the Pat McGrath eye pencils and sparkle shadows, and the Anastasia brow pomade and brow pencils!
Luxury/Splurge: Dr Dennis Gross Alpha Beta Extra Strength Daily Peel
Drugstore Discovery: Cerave PM Facial Lotion
Cult Classic: Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Wiz
Indie Option: Pat McGrath MatteTrance Lipstick
All Time Ole Reliable: Nars Sheer Glow Foundation
