Magda Kaczmarska is Sick of Quiet Luxury
If you enjoy maximalism spiked with a bit of camp and a large dose of surrealism, chances are you’ve come across art director and stylist Magda Kaczmarska. Embracing the theatricality and world-building of fashion, Kaxzmarska’s cheeky, imaginative looks inspire and delight. Here, she shares a few of her current wardrobe staples, explains why she champions emerging designers, and describes her intoxicating new favorite scent (you’ll never guess what it is). — Maraya
SIGHT
Suzume (2022): I recently watched a film called Suzume, and I haven’t had that warm fuzzy happy feeling after watching a movie since binging all the Studio Ghibli films during the Covid lockdowns. I want to erase the memory and rewatch it all over again—the way the water is animated is simply beautiful it’s almost sad it’s an animation and not real life. It’s a film I can’t get out of my head! I’ve already convinced myself to rewatch it again tonight.
SOUND
“Warning Call” by Louf: I’ve got to plug my fiancé’s new track, ”Warning Call” (his artist name is Louf). I’ve been watching him work so hard on his album that’s coming out soon and it’s so amazing to finally see the first song from it go out to the world. I’m so proud of him and the song is beautiful!
TASTE
Nando’s: When it comes to taste, I’m a simple girl! But my current obsession is with Nando’s—nothing beats it for me right now. I recently got a puppy and he loves to bark at me when I cook in the kitchen, so I’ve been relying on Nando’s to feed me. My usual order is the butterfly burger (medium heat), with peri fries and corn on the cob. YUM.
SMELL
Puppy Breath: At the moment my favourite smell is the top of my puppy’s head. He smells like talc powder and it’s so cute and delicious I just want to bottle it up and save it forever. I’m writing this as I’m in full obsessive dog mum mode though, so give it a few months and it will definitely go back to my usual Jo Malone fig perfume.
FEEL
Named Collective Anime Track Suit: I practically live in a pink and blue Named Collective anime tracksuit at the moment. It’s the best thing to wear in between the weird and wonderful outfits people usually see me in on Instagram. I’m also at home quite a lot at the moment looking after my new pup, so I’m not dressing up much at all, but it’s nice to look a little bit cute whilst being comfortable.
MAGDA’S ESSENTIALS
I usually invest my money in statement pieces that I can create interesting and inspiring content in, and clothing that I can also use for my styling work. When I’m looking for new wardrobe bits I’m always thinking about the creative concept behind shooting those pieces, since that’s where my love for fashion lies heaviest. I love purchasing from emerging designers because that’s where I’m able to get more bespoke, unique pieces that inspire me more than most high-end designers would. But if I am going more luxury with my spending, it’s always Loewe and Maison Margiela that eat away at my bank account!
Named Collective Animated Pullover: If there was to be one genre of film left on this planet I would vote anime, so this jumper SPOKE to me. It’s the coziest material ever and I’m non-stop wearing it—the matching bottoms are cute as hell too. I currently own four tracksuit sets from Named Collective so I’m a big fan of the brand.
Leeann Huang Martini Glass Jeans: So I’m cheating a little bit here as I have not yet received these trousers that I recently bought, but I know once they arrive and I’m finally able to venture back out into the world, I’ll be wearing these nonstop. I love jeans, and I love them even more when there’s a huge martini printed all over them.
D’Accori Belle Sandals: D’Accori is a shoe brand that is close my heart. I’ve been wearing the designs since the brand started and have built a wonderful friendship with the designer, and these are the very first pair of heels I received of his. They’ll always be my most special pair of heels and are a huge go-to of mine when it comes to content creation.
Chimera Lab Dolphin Bag: Currently my favorite bag, this Liana Paberza cross body is SO much fun to wear around. I’m very into 2000s throwback fashion at the moment (like the rest of the industry) and this is a total embodiment of all things of that digital era.
Sourtai Lace Pedal Pushers: I love to wear all black but often find it can be a little bit boring (for me), so these capri leggings are a great style solution to elevate any black dress or mini skirt. With a little kitten heel too, it's chef's kiss.
“I can’t wait for the quiet luxury trend to be over—BE GONE!”

VANITY
I’m very simple when it comes to beauty and skincare. I don’t tend to wear much makeup because I’m rubbish at it, and I’m lazy when it comes to my morning and evening routines, but I swear by every one of these products!
Luxury/Splurge: Le Labo Hand Care Set: A little bit of everyday luxury. I’m so over Le Labo fragrances, but their hair and hand care is dreamy! I’ve also got the oil body wash and shampoo and I’m hooked.
Drugstore Discovery: NYX Brow Mascara: I can’t rave about this brow gel enough—it’s so good!
Cult Classic: Nars Pure Radiant Tinted Moisturizer: I mean, most of us probably know that the Nars tinted moisturizer is the GOAT (+ their concealer). I wear this every single day and the bottles last forever.
Indie Option: Evo The Shag Beach Paste: After blowdrying a wolf cut, this is a MUST to make my hair less fluffy.
All Time Ole Reliable: The Ordinary Hyaluronic Acid 2% + B5: If I was only allowed to do one skincare routine step it would be using hyaluronic acid. I pile this stuff on every morning and evening.
