Jordan Rand Redefines ‘Model-Off-Duty’
Whether she’s zooming around on a motorcycle or training as a professional competitive e-scooter racer, when model, athlete, and Racing Pride Community Champion Jordan Rand isn’t at a casting or shoot, she’s somewhere going fast. Her sporty, adventurous lifestyle lends a new authenticity to the ‘model-off-duty’ aesthetic—the impossibly cool motorcycle jackets and heavy boots are for both form and function. Here, Rand breaks down her style essentials, shares her current favorite movie that celebrates queer joy, and explains why she has embraced androgynous dressing (hint: pockets!). — Maraya

Why the style icon’s influence is still keenly felt today. |
Between Sandy Liang, Simone Rocha, and the coquette trend, bows have dominated the past year. But the holiday season has brought ribbon mania to a fever pitch. |

👁️ Sight 👀
Red, White, and Royal Blue: The most recent movie I’ve become obsessed with is Red, White, and Royal Blue on Amazon Prime Video. I read the book first and was so excited when they turned it into a film! The film did not disappoint. It’s a romantic comedy between the prince of England and the son of the American president. The queer joy is infectious! It means so much to me, as a queer person who has always craved that kind of representation with a happy ending, that a movie like this is available on such a mainstream platform. Plus it’s just HOT! The casting is chef’s kiss.
🎧 Sound 👂
Brené Brown Audiobooks: I have recently been on a Brené Brown deep dive. Her books are incredible! Starting with Daring Greatly and Rising Strong. I always like to read one educational book and one guilty pleasure book. My recent guilty pleasure book has been Those Who Wait by Haley Cass. It’s pure smut but I’m living for it.
👅 Taste 😋
Chicken Tikka Masala: My recent food hyperfixation has been chicken tikka masala. I’ve been ordering from Aroqa NYC almost every night. But I’m also a sucker for a good burger. My fave burger in NYC right now is Au Cheval and in London, it’s Bleecker Burger.
👃 Smell 😶🌫️
Hermès Beauty Eau de Rhubarbe Écarlete Eau de Cologne: I’m very picky about perfume. I don’t usually like to wear anything because I have a sensitive nose, but I am obsessed with Hermès Eau de Rhubarbe Écarlete Eau de Cologne (the red one) and their rhubarbe shower gel. The scent is addictive but not too strong. I highly recommend it especially if you have olfactory sensitivity.
🤌 Feel 🤏
Heron Preston: I’ve been feeling my best wearing Heron Preston if I’m honest. It’s a fun mix of sporty androgynous style. I wear both the men’s and the womenswear. Every time I wear their pieces I feel like myself. The beauty product I have been using most has been the Charlotte Tilbury contour wand. Just brings me back to life on those mornings where the coffee just isn’t cutting it.
JORDAN’S WARDROBE ESSENTIALS
Heron Preston Cargo Pants: The men’s cargo pants have been my go-to piece for over a year now. I realized how freeing it is to not wear trousers that are glued to my figure. I can eat what I want, move how I want, and always feel comfortable, free, and cool.
Redbull Racing Motorcycle Jacket: I found this motorcycle jacket at a vintage shop when I was looking for an outfit to wear to a Redbull event and it seemed like fate. I have basically been living in this jacket ever since! I feel invincible wearing it, and as a professional racer, I like that it immediately lets people know what I’m about in some way.
Prada Combat Boots: I love these boots but it could honestly be any chunky black combat boot. I like how prominent these boots are with any outfit.
Moto Jersey or Crop Top: I love pairing baggy pants with a tiny top. I’ve been told the baggy pants and a tiny top is the stereotypical bisexual style but I really do love the combination. The fact that I’m bisexual is irrelevant. I also love wearing a motocross jersey with my baggy pants. Just depends on if I’m in a sporty mood or a tiny top mood.
Les Berlingots de Cartier Ring and Necklace: I have had a good relationship with Cartier for the past three years with racing and the Goodwood Festival of Speed. These two pieces, the Berlingots ring and necklace, have been an everyday go-to. I’ll be honest, I’m lazy with my jewelry. So once I like something I’ll pretty much never take it off.
VANITY
Jordan Rand’s Beauty Go-To’s
Hermès Beauty Eau De Rhubarbe Ecarlate Hair And Body Shower Gel: The shower gel is my splurge because it feels so decadent to shower with Hermès and the smell is so delicious I rarely feel like I need perfume afterward.
Simple Kind to Skin Moisturising Facial Wash: I’ve been using this face wash forever. It’s cheap and removes my makeup easily.
Charlotte Tilbury Hollywood Contour Wand: I’ll be honest, TikTok sold me on this one! Now I’m addicted.
Bread Beauty Supply Hair-Cream: Elastic Bounce: I actually had to google what an indie beauty product is. Turns out I’m using one of the brands that came up for hair care products. The Bread leave-in conditioner is pretty fire!
Tatcha Luminous Deep Hydration Revitalizing Eye Mask: I’ve been using the Tatcha eye masks for years and honestly, they are the one and only eye mask that actually makes a difference for me. I’ve been having a hard time finding them recently so I hope they aren’t discontinuing them.
HOT TAKE
“I wash my face in the shower with shower gel most mornings. My facialist seems to think that is crazy so maybe it’s a hot take. At night I use face wash to remove my makeup but in the morning I just wash my face with the same stuff I use on my body.
Second hot take is I think womenswear is a cruel trap. Since I started wearing men’s trousers, I realized men have pockets. And I don’t mean tiny pockets that can maybe hold a lip gloss if you’re lucky, I mean POCKETS, like you can carry your ENTIRE LIFE in these pockets. I think women’s trousers rarely have pockets and if they do they are so small and you wouldn’t put anything in them anyway because they are usually so skin tight that it would look weird to fill the pockets with anything anyway. I think they are designed that way to get us to spend more money buying purses and bags to carry keys, wallets, etc. It’s a trap and I’m not falling for it anymore. I have started carrying a small men’s crossbody bag and using my pockets. It’s heavenly. ” — Jordan Rand
