A Different Kind of Work Uniform

New York photographer Alex Frank is responsible for some of my favorite imagery currently on Coveteur—her fashion editorials accompanying our trend pieces on miniskirts and corp-core are definitely must-sees. Here, she shares the typical look she wears on shoots, her go-to Manhattan lunch spot, and the candle she can’t get enough of.   — Maraya

LATELY ON COVETEUR

Anaa Saber’s visual diary of a very typical Parisian day (croissant, coffee, Balenciaga).

Known for her beloved purses cut in the literal silhouette of a hand, Glenn’s surrealist creations surprise and delight.

5 Things Alex Frank Is Currently Into Based on the 5 Senses

👁️ Sight 👀

Priscilla (2023): I am fixated on Priscilla at the moment. Sofia Coppola has, and always will be the blueprint.

🎧 Sound 👂

“Unwritten” by Natasha Bedingfield: Not new, but seeing Anyone But You made me remember how good “Unwritten” by Natasha Bedingfield is. Absolute mood booster.

👅 Taste 😋

Soma Salads: I am pretty often shooting in the studios in West Chelsea and am OBSESSED with this place called Soma Salads for lunch on set. Try the Sesame Crunch salad it’s insane.

👃 Smell 😶‍🌫️

Loewe Cypress Candle: Currently rationing the burns of my Loewe Cypress candle. It's so good.

🤌 Feel 🤏

Patrick Ta Major Headlines Double-Take Crème & Powder Blush Duo: Patrick Ta got me with the blush. I love how buildable this is with the powder and cream options.

ALEX’S WARDROBE ESSENTIALS

This is pretty much my shoot wardrobe starter pack. I am always living in a baggy jean, tiny top, jacket or blazer of sorts, and sneaker. When shooting an event or if I'm in need of a little more elevated but still moveable look, I love this Wardrobe suit set; an investment piece but the fit is perfection.

VANITY

Alex’s Beauty Go-To’s

I love a good glam moment, but my daily routine is more centered around skincare and a good blush. I’ve been loving the Dieux Instant Angel when I can get my hands on it, and the Cicaplast Balm for maximum moisture.

THE SNAPSHOT

In celebration of Alex Frank’s photography practice, we’ve asked her to share two images: one she took early in her career as a photographer that has special significance and one recent shot that encapsulates where she is now in her creative journey.

This photo was taken during COVID in my backyard in Arizona. This was kind of the start of my photography career, when I was shooting fake "editorials" for a TikTok series. I shot with a lot of friends and family during the Summer of 2020, while my company was remote, and it was a benchmark moment for me. These shoots and the response I got on social media really showed me, for the first time, that I could pursue a career in this.

This photo was taken a few weeks ago in NYC for a Coveteur editorial piece. I feel like this shot really shows the growth and maturity in my work in the past four years. I'm now a full-time freelance photographer shooting for magazines and brands in New York City. We made it!
